ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I am a qualified educational psychologist with an additional diploma in positive parenting. I am a mother, an independent researcher, and I have been a student and instructor in relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness techniques for many years. I studied psychology in the U.S., the U.K., and Cyprus, and have worked in various educational and psychological settings in the U.S., New Zealand, the U.K., and Cyprus.
Over the course of my career, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a wide range of educational, clinical, and community settings. These diverse experiences have provided me with a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, emotional well-being, and the challenges that parents and children face throughout different stages and situations in life. They have also shaped my commitment to providing practical, evidence-based guidance that empowers parents to build strong, healthy, and trusting relationships with their children.
My life journey eventually led me to meet my husband, and together we welcomed our son. Becoming a mother changed my world. Despite my theoretical and professional background, I quickly realised that theory is different from experience and that my understanding of parenting was far from complete.
I gave birth to my son in a country different from the one in which I was born, which meant I was largely isolated from cultural and family influences regarding child-rearing. From the very first day of motherhood, I noticed that parents used different techniques to help their babies sleep. Some let their infants cry until they fell asleep, others waited a short period of time before intervening, and some rocked and sang to their babies, never allowing them to cry. During those early days, as I received a variety of conflicting advice on parenting, I chose to follow my heart and experienced a deep intuitive connection with my son which lasted for about a year.
As my son grew older and parental challenges and dilemmas increased, I continued to encounter conflicting opinions regarding the best ways to raise and discipline him. This inspired me to begin in-depth research to identify the most effective, evidence-based parenting methods supported by professionals and scientific studies. I delved into the vast world of parenthood, studying various philosophies, theories, books, and literature over many years.
My interest in parenthood grew as I came to understand that this journey is one of life’s most precious yet challenging gifts. I decided to write the book 130+ Child Rearing Techniques & Suggestions: A Practical Parenting Guide, to help other parents and guardians, those who lack the time to sift through research themselves, those seeking new techniques and strategies to raise happy and resilient children, and those struggling with communication challenges, anger or negativity with their kids.
